World powers agree on Syria plan

2012-06-30 21:00

Geneva - World powers agreed on a Syria transition plan on Saturday with a unity government to include members of the present administration, although envoy Kofi Annan said he doubted Syrians would "select people with blood on their hands".

A crunch meeting in Geneva agreed that the transitional government "could include members of the present government and the opposition and other groups and shall be formed on the basis of mutual consent," Annan said.

Asked what the transition plan spelled for President Bashar Assad, Annan said: "The document makes it clear that we have provided guidelines and principles to assist the Syrian parties as they move ahead with the transition and establish a transition government and go through changes required.

The future of Assad "will be left to them."

Pressed if members from the regime who have engaged in repression would be part of the interim government, he said: "People with blood on their hands are hopefully not the only Syrians.

"I would doubt that Syrians... would select people with blood on their hands to lead them."

Any plan that has this terrorist assad still in power, is doomed to fail. The Syrians will NEVER EVER allow this to happen.

Has Assad agreed? Perhaps it will eventually be necessary to shoot him to gain his cooperation.

So Assad is not accountable for the murder of thousands of Syrians and the destruction of much of Syria? I don't think so.

Don't worry his fate is sealed just like Gaddafi' The Syrians are just waiting, with these new developments, he'll be lulled into a sense of security and then BAM into a culvert under some freeway.

Based on this report, it is a shocking agreement that conforms to the lowest common denominator: a neo-Soviet Russian regime that slants elections in its favor and with a poor human rights record. We are letting Syrians down badly. It's tragic and sad, unconscionable.

We didn't have much of a problem in SA having part of the apartheid murdering scum forming part of the interim government, it seemed to have worked in this country, hopefully it works in Syria as well.
