Yemen resumes hunt for bomb sender

2010-11-01 13:20
Sana'a – Yemeni police have resumed their search for a woman who mailed two parcels containing explosives to the US, after authorities released a female suspect, an Interior Ministry official said on Monday.

"Security authorities are carrying out an extensive investigation to identify the woman who sent the packages," the official told the German Press Agency dpa.

Police released a university student late on Sunday who had been arrested the day before on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

Computer science student Hanan Mohamed al-Samary, 22, "was released after investigations showed that she was the wrong person", a security source told dpa.

Authorities said earlier that they had arrested her based on a US intelligence tip.

Police sources said the woman who sent the parcels had used al-Samary's name and ID.
