Photos found by construction workers on a cell phone led to the arrest of a cannibal couple in Krasnodar in southern Russia, reported LiveKuban news recently.

In the pictures a man who’s reported to be 35-year-old Dmitry Bakshaev poses with a chopped off hand in his mouth, he also poses with various women without limbs and decapitated heads.

According to the Daily Star, it’s alleged that the phone also contained a photo of a person’s head on a plate decorated with oranges.

The workers immediately notified police and using the pictures and information on the lost phone, police were able to locate the suspect and his 42-year-old wife for questioning.

Dmitry initially told the police in Krasnodar that he happened upon the dismembered corpse and decided to take pictures of it.

But after raiding the couple’s home, police found the dismembered body of a woman. They also reportedly found seven packs containing human body parts in the freezer.

19 samples of human skin, ‘meat’ preserved in jars and a bag full of body parts were also found, reported the Daily Star.

Dmitry eventually admitted that he and his partner have, over the past 20 years, had human flesh on their menu on at least 30 different occasions.

About eight body parts – some of which were in tins or containers in some kind of salt solution, a video tutorial on cannibalism and a recipe book on how to cook people were found in the couple’s house.

The heap of body parts, which included human skin and flesh, was apparently being preserved to be eaten at a later stage.

Bakshaev is also being charged with one count of murder (of the woman whose body was found on his property). Some of her body parts were found in the messy apartment, while more body parts of at least seven other people were found in their cellar.

They allegedly made use of a Russian medication called Corvalol to put their victims to sleep, reported

LiveKuban news.

The first footage taken during the police’s first visit to the apartment shocked residents of Krasnodar who claim that the couple, besides for their messy appearances and love of alcohol, didn't act very strange.

Dmitry’s partner apparently drank a great deal and her appearance could be described as incredibly messy. She was apparently currently unemployed but used to work as a nurse.  "She drank all the time," a local businesses woman told RT News.
