Cape Town - An Indian mother was raped on a bus in Uttar Pradesh State as her 3-year-old daughter watched in horror.

The Times of India reported that the attackers also killed the woman’s baby boy who was thrown to the floor during the attack. The infant was just 14 days old.

Two suspects have been arrested in Shishgarhc, where attack took place.

It is believed that the attackers were, in fact, the driver and conductor of the bus.

The Daily Mail reported that the woman was en route to meet her sister when she was attacked.

Her daughter was the only witness to the attack as she apparently hid in the corner while her mother was being raped.

Police spokesperson Surendra Singh Panwar said the suspects have been charged with culpable homicide and gang rape.

Police earlier this week said a 15-year-old girl is fighting for her life in a New Delhi hospital after being raped and set on fire on the rooftop terrace of her family's home in a village outside the city.

Police constable Yadram Singh said that a 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping her and attempting to burn the girl to death in Tigri village, near the New Delhi suburb of Noida.

His report on the case describes how the girl's parents found her with severe burns, after hearing her screaming from the rooftop terrace before dawn.
