Schools closed as 7 000 tyres burn in Puerto Rico

San Juan - Firefighters in Puerto Rico are battling a large fire at a used-tyre collection site that has forced school closures in the area.

Authorities said on Monday that about 7 000 tyres have caught fire in the north town of Caguas. It is unclear how the fire began.

Officials say classes have been cancelled in several nearby schools. No injuries have been reported.
