Paris - A Syrian passport was found near the body of one of the assailants involved in a wave of deadly attacks on Paris, police said on Saturday.

Police did not say where exactly the passport was found, although they indicated a possible Syrian connection was a working hypothesis for investigators after assailants hit six separate locations in Paris late Friday, killing 128.

Earlier on Saturday, Syrian President Bashar Assad said French policy had contributed to the "spread of terrorism" that culminated in the Paris attacks, which have been claimed by ISIS.
