10 things you need to know about Harry’s (rumoured) future wife

Rumours are running rampant Prince Harry (28) wants to tie the knot with his latest lady, Cressida Bonas (24), after he whisked her off on a romantic African getaway.

And how could the rumour mill not be in overdrive, after Harry’s big brother, Wills, proposed to his wife, Kate, on a Kenyan holiday?

A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper, “The way it’s looking now people close to Harry and Cressida predict an engagement by the end of the year and a [northern hemisphere] spring wedding.” See the full story here.

While our royal blogger thinks this is a load of nonsense, where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire and as such here are 10 things you need to know about Harry’s (could-be) bride-to-be.

1. Unlike Wills’ sweetheart, Kate, Cressy (as her friends call her) is a blue blood! Cressida is the daughter of Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon and Jeffrey Bonas. Lady Mary is the daughter of Edward Curzon, the 6th Earl Howe. Cressy’s mom is quite the character – she once posed (almost) naked and covered in oil for a coffee-table book called Birds of Britain.

2. Cressida’s folks were married for six years, but former ’60s pin-up girl Mary-Gaye has infamously been married three other times. As a result, Cressy has four half-siblings.

3. As the youngest of her siblings, Cressida is called “Small”, or “Smally”, by her nearest and dearest.

4. Cressida’s half-sister Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe once caught Prince William’s eye. But she recently married Sam Branson, son of Virgin tycoon Richard Branson.

5. Just like Harry’s former flame Chelsy Davy she went to the exclusive boarding school Stowe School in Buckingham, where fees are reportedly £10 000 (R160 000) a term. She also spent some time at the Royal Ballet School as a teen. Also like Chelsy, she went to Leeds University, where she studied dance. Cressida continued her training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, a school of music and dance in London, from which she graduated last month.

6. She’s modelled and worked as a ski instructor.

7. Cress seems to like men who go by the name of Harry. Her last beau was Harry Wentworth Stanley, also a distant royal.

8. Cressida was introduced to Prince Harry by his cousin Princess Eugenie, who’s a close friend of Cressida’s, at a music festival last year.

9. While Cressida may have all the makings of a society party girl, she reportedly takes her career as a dancer seriously and spends her weekends dancing and spending time with her half-siblings.

10. She’s more down-to-earth than you may think – she was recently photographer at the famous Glastonbury music festival in the UK, sporting ripped denim dungarees and neon green sunnies, all while munching on a massive plate of slap chips. A girl after our own hearts!
