A boy in Hamburg, Germany has lost his foot after his mother allegedly pushed him in front of a train.

A boy in Hamburg, Germany has lost his foot after his mother allegedly pushed him in front of a train on Sunday.

The driver slammed on the emergency breaks, but the boy still ended up underneath the locomotive.

The 11-year-old became trapped between two carriages at a railway station and it took emergency services almost 40 minutes to free him Bild reports, after having to manually push the train back.

His legs were seriously injured and one of his feet had to be amputated. The boy, who has not been named, is stable.

His mother (31) described as 'psychologically disturbed',  has been sent from psychiatric evaluation.

A spokesman for Hamburg Police confirmed an investigation has been opened with the murder commission for attempted murder.

According to MailOnline, witnesses of the shocking incident had to receive counselling.
