50 Shades' Charlie gets cold feet

Charlie Hunnam is no longer going to play the lead role in the movie version of EL James’ erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.

IT’S either good news or bad news, depending on your choice of actor to play Christian Grey.

“Charlie got cold feet,” a source says. “He wanted to get out of the movie because he was feeling as if it would be his version of Showgirlsand he didn’t want to be remembered for that.”

Charlie “hates” being in the spotlight, another source says. All the attention he received as a result of the role didn’t go down well with the Brit, nor did the negative reaction the announcement that he got the role provoked from many fans of the book.

Charlie, who’s known for his role in the TV series Sons of Anarchy, now claims his hectic TV schedule won’t allow him enough time to prepare for the role of Christian Grey. Weak excuse, much?

He apparently didn’t look forward to all the publicity he would have had to do for the film. “That’s really not his thing,” a source says. “Charlie doesn’t want to be massively famous. Plus, he hates conforming and being told what to do. This role would force him to have to be something he is not.”

The producers are now looking for another actor to play the lead. Who do you think should play Christian Grey?

Our choices:

Ryan Gosling

The 32-year-old actor was apparently the “original archetype” for the role but he wasn’t interested. We’re still holding thumbs he can be persuaded otherwise!

Matt Bomer

The Magic Mike actor is the top choice of fans of the book. They even started a petition on Change.org trying to get Matt (36) the role.

Robert Pattinson

The 27-year-old Twilight actor is a good friend of the author, EL James, and apparently he was her first choice.

Ian Somerhalder

Rumours that Ian (34) would get the role have been swirling for months and he himself has said he wouldn’t say no if it was offered to him. After all, he plays a similar heart-breaker in the TV series The Vampire Diaries.

Chris Hemsworth

The Thor actor (30) would be brilliant as Christian Grey and he could even get his 23-year-old brother, Liam Hemsworth, to play Christian’s brother, Elliot. Or Liam could play Christian and Chris could play Elliot – we don’t care, as long as we can get to see these sexy brothers together on the big screen! Alexander Skarsgård The Swedish actor (37) plays a sexy vampire in the TV series True Blood and has no problem with stripping off his clothes, so we doubt if he’d say no if he was offered the part.
