Nicki disses Miley at the 2015 MTV Awards

Nicki isn’t afraid to blast her haters — even on live television. The rapper took a swipe at host Miley while accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop music video for her hit Anaconda. She thanked her "beautiful" fans and her pastor, before telling the former Hannah Montana star off for talking about her in a New York Times interview.

“And now... back to this b***h that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what's good?” Nicki slams Taylor in heated T’war Taylor Swift and Nicki exchanged words on Twitter after the rapper complained that she hadn't been given the nod for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards, which Taylor ended up winning for Bad Blood feat Kendrick Lamar. Nicki tweeted multiple times that she didn't understand why her rump-shaking video for Anaconda wasn't up for the top award when MTV announced the nominees in July last year.

"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year," Nicki tweeted -- which Taylor interpreted as a swipe at her.

"I've done nothing but love & support you," the blonde beauty hit back. "It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.."

And then they made up -- in the best way possible

Beef squashed! Nicki and the 26-year-old songstress surprised the world when Tay made a guest appearance on stage at the 2015 MTV Awards, after Nicki opened the show with her hit Trini Dem Girls. When she was done, Taylor suddenly appeared from beneath the stage and helped Nicki end off with The Night Is Still Young -- in matching outfits, nogal!

It looked as though the superstars buried their bad blood once and for all.

That "fake" pope

Meek Mill's girl ruffled quite a few feathers when she walked the red carpet at the 2012 Grammy Awards with a man dressed up as the pope. It all formed part of her performance for Roman Holiday, which included catholic references and a clip from the movie, The Exorcist. To Nicki, this was all part of her artistic expression.

Nicki and the Nazis

The lyric video for Nicki's single Only was reminiscent of Hitler’s Nazi regime with its swastika-like images. After much complaint from social media users and even a Holocaust survivor, she tweeted an apology saying “I didn’t come up w/the concept, but I’m very sorry and take full responsibility if it has offended anyone. I’d never condone Nazism in my art.”

Nicki and the X

The Starships singer found herself in more hot water after using a famed image of Malcolm X in the artwork for Lookin’ Ass N***. The cover featured Malcolm holding a gun while looking outside his window, protecting his family. She faced backlash on social media and from Malcolm X’s family, who voiced their displeasure at her linking Malcolm to expletives. Nicki eventually apologised, labelling the artwork later as “unofficial”. (The pic in question has since been taken down, but you can see it here.)

Her Anaconda clearly does

Her explicit lyrics and video for Anaconda set many tongues wagging. Critics called her out for setting women back but the rapper refused to back down and came out unscathed.

“I wanted to reinstate something,” she told ABC News. “Because of the shift in pop culture, even hip-hop men are really glorifying the less curvy body.

“I wanted to say, ‘Hey ladies, you’re beautiful,’.

“Hopefully, this changes things and maybe it won’t change things, but I love it.”

*The Anaconda hitmaker’s Pinkprint Tour will now invade Johannesburg’s Ticketpro Dome on 17 and 18 March, Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on 20 March and Cape Town’s Grand West Arena on 22 March 2016.
