A four-year-old boy who was hit by a car on Paul Kruger Avenue in Roodepoort on Sunday is still in a critical condition, his mother told YOU.

Faried is being kept under sedation in high care at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, his mom Beverley Fourie said from his bedside in hospital.

“His lungs are bruised and he has bleeding on the brain, but nothing can be done for him before the swelling is down.”

Faried was walking with his father on Sunday afternoon when he ran into the street. He was hit by a car that came "hurtling" down the road, the Krugersdorp Voice reports.

“Exactly what happened we don’t know at this stage," Beverly said. "Everything about the past two days is still to traumatic.”

Beverley said she would like to have her son transferred to a private hospital but didn’t have the money to do so.

“All I ask is that people pray for him.”
