Amanda Bynes could be kept confined and medicated for up to a year, according to reports.

The 28-year-old actress is currently under a 5150 involuntary hold, used when people are deemed a danger to themselves or others, in Los Angeles. It's thought her parents Lynn and Rick tricked their daughter into hospital last Friday following weeks of worrying behaviour, which began after she was arrested for a DUI in California last month.

Amanda was previously placed under a conservatorship after a stint in rehab last year, following a series of bizarre events. Her parents were put in charge of her affairs, and TMZ reports this could be the case again after their control came to an end recently.

The outlet reports the former child star's doctors are planning to get a Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Hold, granted by a judge when a patient is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism". This would allow health experts to keep Amanda confined at either a hospital or other secure facility for 12 months, and administer medication against her will.

TMZ claims this is a much severer option than her parents would ever be able to get, as her mom and dad would not be able to legally force her to take medication or effectively restrain her.

During Amanda's previous conservatorship she was also under an LPS Hold and it's thought a judge will be given the request within the next week, after the star is fully diagnosed.

Amanda is said to feel fury towards her parents for getting her care, and is apparently showing "fits of anger" at the lockdown section of a facility in Pasadena, where she is being held according to the news outlet.

Some of the strange behaviour Amanda has shown includes accusations of shoplifting in New York last month and accusing her father of sexually abusing her as a child on Twitter, before deleting the comments and claiming a microchip made her post the tweets.
