Angelina Jolie still hopes her best year is to come.

Angelina Jolie still hopes her best year is to come. The 39-year-old actress is riding high at the moment, with her latest directorial effort Unbroken receiving good reviews. She married her long-term partner Brad Pitt in August, but refuses to call 2014 her most exciting year to date.

'I married my love, my son became a teenager and I got to work on a film like this and bring it into the world'

"I hope not. I always hope that one's to come," she laughed to British magazine Hello! "But it's been an amazing year; I married my love, my son became a teenager and I got to work on a film like this and bring it into the world."

Unbroken tells the story of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, who was imprisoned by Japanese forces during World War II. It meant a lot to Angelina that she gave it her all, although she was careful to balance her work and home life during the shoot in Australia.

The actress and Brad raise six children together and one of the best things about their career is that the kids are always with them.

"The nice thing about being a director is that you're not sitting in hair and make-up and you can have you kids sitting on your lap while you're directing half the scenes," she explained.

"I was with them often. They were either on set or I was home for dinner and we were together on the weekends. Sometimes they would do school on set in the trailer because they're home schooled. You just manage it that way - you just refuse to separate your family."

Although the power couple have only just got married they have been together for ten years, having met on the set of 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith. That doesn't mean everything is plain sailing though, with the actress recently admitting she sometimes worries she isn't doing a good enough job at home.

"It did change. We were fortunate enough to be in that unusual situation, we got married with our [six] children and they were part of the ceremony," she explained last week.

"We have more moments where I say, 'I'm going to be a better wife. I'm going to learn to cook.' and [Brad] says, 'Oh, honey, know what you're good at...' But I do like, 'No, no, no, I'm going to get this wife thing down.' He knows my limitations and where I'm a good wife and a good mom."
