Helena Bonham Carter drunkenly asked Prince William to be her daughter's godfather. The 47-year-old actress attended a charity gala which the 31-year-old royal hosted on May 13 at Windsor Castle and recalled previously meeting the second-in-line to the throne when he was with Duchess Catherine on the island of Mustique before the pair wed in 2011. After a few drinks The King's Speech actress managed to gain the confidence to ask whether he'd take a key role in her six-year-old daughter Nell's - who she had with director Tim Burton - life, but he "wisely" refused.

'I got very drunk at one point and I was determined to ask him to be a godfather to my daughter.'

According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she revealed: "The Duke and I met before, along with the Duchess, before they were married, when I was staying on Mustique. I got very drunk at one point and I was determined to ask him to be a godfather to my daughter. He quite wisely said no."

Helena insists William takes after his father Prince Charles and mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, who are hugely admired by the public. She added: "I admire him. He has got the same grace as both his parents."
