One day a generation of children will realize that their names have been inspired by mom and dad’s selfies!

The latest fad among trendy millennial parents is naming their kids after the filters on photo-sharing site Instagram.

Most new-age parents wouldn't dream of sharing a photograph on Instagram or Facebook without adding a beautiful filter to it. But it seems these filters are useful for more than just enhancing the vista in your selfie, they apparently also make good baby names!

According to research done by BabyCenter.com parents are taking their cue from the popular social media site and naming their tots after their favourite photograph filters.

The parenting site gathered data from more than 340,000 parents around the world and Instagram's influence on monikers was massive. The most popular name borrowed from the app was the boy's name Lux (which is technically a photo enhancing feature and not a filter), which had a 75% increase compared to 2014 results.

Other filter names which increased in popularity for boy's names in 2015 were Ludwig, Amaro, Reyes, Hudson and Kelvin. For little girls Juno, Valencia and Willow came out tops.

Babycenter.com’s findings prove without a doubt that pop culture continues to influence parent’s baby naming choices.

After the unprecedented success of Twilight in 2009 the name Isabella was all the rage and in 2015 popular television series Empire has inspired the popularity of names like Dre, Lyon and Hakeem.
