Banana and caramel tart with berry topping

Banana and caramel are made for each other! The recipe for this easy tart was sent to us by Susan Greeff of Secunda.

Serves 6 Preparation time: 15-20 min Standing time: 2 hours

  • 1 Swiss roll
  • 1 packet (200 g) Cream Crackers
  • 5 ml (1 t) ground ginger
  • 1 can (380 g) caramel condensed milk
  • 1 can (380 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 bananas (300 g), sliced
  • 300 g strawberries
  • 50 g chocolate, melted
  • 250 ml (1 c) cream, whipped
  • (optional)

1 Cut the Swiss roll into 1 cm slices and line a large glass dish with them.

2 Roughly break the Cream Crackers into a separate bowl and combine with the

ginger,

caramel condensed milk, plain condensed milk and bananas.

3 Spoon the mixture into the cake-lined dish and leave for about 2 hours or until

the filling has set.

4 Cut the strawberries into small pieces and arrange on top of the tart.

5 Spoon the melted chocolate into a plastic bag and snip off one corner. Pipe the

chocolate over the strawberries.

6 Serve the tart with the whipped cream (if using).
