You should amend your skincare routine as you get older.

30sWhile your twenties are about preventing ageing with a basic skincare routine, your skin needs more attention in your thirties.

  • Choose a cream, foundation or tinted moisturiser with an SPF of at least 15 to protect your skin and prevent sun spots and wrinkles.
  • Start using eye cream to help strengthen the thin skin around your eyes. Opt  for gel base if you have an oily skin, or a cream if your skin is dry.
  • Supplement moisturiser with vitamin E oil to treat scars.
40s - As you grow older your skin loses its ability to retain water and its cells and fibres don’t regenerate as quickly, leading to a duller skin tone, wrinkles and sagging.
  • Swop to more hydrating moisturisers, preferably ones that will also target sun spots.
  • Serums have smaller molecules than moisturisers so are able to penetrate deeper.
  • With age and frequent colouring hair becomes brittle so use a hair-moisturising mask every two weeks to moisturise and strengthen your hair.
50s - Your fifties are about maintaining your routine and adding moisture and nutrients.
