Beef stew parcels

A great way of preserving the juiciness and combo of flavours

Makes 8

Preparation time: 15 min

Cooking time: 1 hour

15 ml (1 T) oil

15 ml (1 T) brown sugar

500 g beef goulash cubes

45 ml (3 T) tomato paste

1 can (400 g) chopped tomatoes

3 carrots, sliced

1 onion, chopped

250 ml (1 c) beef stock

60 ml (¼ c) barbecue sauce

salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 Chinese cabbage

potato salad to serve

1 Heat the oil in a large saucepan, add the sugar, cook for 1 minute then brown the beef in the saucepan.

2 Add the tomato paste, tomatoes, carrots, onion, stock and barbecue sauce. Simmer for 1 hour or until the meat is tender. Season with salt and pepper.

3 Separate 8 cabbage leaves and blanch in boiling water. Spoon the beef stew in the middle of the cabbage leaves and roll into parcels.

4 Serve with potato salad
