Beyoncé’s trainer reveals her diet secrets

Beyoncé Knowles was amazed by the amount of energy she had after doing the 22-Day Revolution challenge.

The 33-year-old singer embarked on the strict regime, which involves going totally vegan, at the end of 2013, and shed the pounds in the process.

But now her trainer Marco Borges, who has penned a book revealing his vegan secrets, has revealed that weight loss isn’t the only benefit of sticking to his plan.

'The number one benefit is weight loss'

“The number one benefit is weight loss, and a really close second is energy,” Marco told People.com. “Jennifer Lopez and B and Jay have all done the 22-Day Revolution program and across the board it’s been, ‘My energy is through the roof.'”

Since first successfully completing the challenge, Beyonce has been intermittently introducing a vegan diet for several days at a time to help her maintain her slim frame.

And the results are clear to see, with the mother-of-one showing off her incredible figure in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown at the 2015 Met Gala in New York on Monday night.

While going vegan involves cutting out a lot of food groups, there is one particular item that Beyoncé and her famous husband couldn’t quite bring themselves to rid their diet of.

“They love pizza, and we have a great pizza recipe in The 22-Day Revolution that’s easy to make,” he said. “They didn’t have to give it up!”

As well as losing weight and gaining energy, going vegan gave Beyoncé various other benefits – including a radiant complexion.

And Marco revealed in the interview that he is hoping his book will open people up to just how powerful the “benefits of plant-based nutrition can be”.

“Beyoncé and Jay loved the challenge,” Marco said. “They were getting people saying, ‘Your skin has this glow.’ And who doesn’t like being told they look awesome? Beyoncé showed up to the Grammys in 2014 and everyone’s jaws were on the floor.”
