Bigger can be better

When Jennie Runk was discovered by a model scout when she was 14, the scout told her she needed to get thinner or fatter.

Jennie went with fatter. “I knew my body was never meant to be a size four (SA size 6), so I went with plus [size],” the beautiful brunette says simply.

And we’re glad she did! The 24-year-old recently showed off her curves in a swimwear shoot for British high street brand H&M, and has become a worldwide sensation for doing so.

Jennie, a size 16, looks gorgeous in H&M’s summer swimwear line, and is even pictured frolicking in the waves in a little black bikini.

In the first 24 hours after the pictures were released, Jennie’s Facebook fan page gained 20 000 new followers, and she’s been swamped with thank you messages from fans.

Jennie ? who describes herself as the quiet type who reads books, plays video games and is obsessed with her cat ? was shocked by the attention the shoot received.

“Having a large amount of publicity was an awkward surprise at first,” she says. “I found it strange that people made such a fuss about how my body looks in a bikini, since I don't usually give it much thought.”

But Jennie is determined to use her new-found fame as an opportunity to “make the world a little nicer” by promoting body confidence in women.

One of Jennie’s fans even told her she’d inspired her to put on a bikini for the first time in years.

“This is exactly the kind of thing I've always wanted to accomplish, showing women that it's OK to be confident even if you're not the popular notion of ‘perfect’.”
