A businessman has died after shooting himself at the Mediclinic Bloemfontein this morning, the Bloemfontein Courant reports.

According to the local news outlet, Henk Cronjé  shot himself in the consulting rooms of his oncologist father, Neil Cronjé, at the hospital. Henk survived the initial shooting and was being cared for at the intensive care unit, where he later passed away from his injuries, OFM reports. Police spokesperson Wendy Nkabi confirmed that police are on the scene at Mediclinic, but would not elaborate as a police docket has not been opened yet. It's unclear what happened at the hospital, but Henk and his father made headlines after a bitter court battle over the wedding venue they both own, Kopano Nokeng.

Henk told Netwerk24 that his relationship with Neil turned sour over the circumstances in which Henk's mother, Anne Marie, died in a shooting incident at his parents's home in 2003.

Dr Cronje, who has since remarried, said in a statement Henk and his wife, Danielle, try put him in a bad light and portray him as the cause of his wife's death.
