Body language expert: Beyonce was on Solange's side

Beyoncé just stood by as sister Solange viscously launched herself at her husband Jay-Z in a lift last week -- a body language expert reveals why.

There was some seriously crazy behaviour exhibited by hip-hop's first family in a lift on the way to the Met Gala last week -- but perhaps the weirdest of all was Beyoncé's herself. The singer just stood by as sister Solange viscously launched herself at her husband Jay-Z, punching and kicking him as hard as she could muster. Body language expert Judi James reckons this is probably because Beyoncé was on Solange's side. "There is a kind of law among siblings that you protect them and Beyoncé's lack of reaction is amazing," she told the Daily Mail. "It is extremely strange that Beyoncé makes such a little attempt to calm down her sister despite the volatile nature of the situation with two large men in the small lift.

"Halfway through the clip, the singer does stand in between the warring pair, which is probably more  to stop her sister getting hurt, rather than to protect Jay Z." There is another interpretation of B's totally serene behaviour, James adds -- she was desperate to protect her image.

'It's important that she glances at Solange and not Jay Z as she leaves the lift'
"She has an image of being the 'perfect woman' and it's as if nothing should compromise that - she will come out of that lift as if nothing has happened, no matter what." She even picks up the train of her dress at one point during the attack, James points out. In fact, only Jay Z lets on that something odd may have happened as the trio step out of the lift. The sisters emerge looking unruffled, while Jay Z clutches his cheek looking slightly bewildered.  "It's important that she glances at Solange and not Jay Z as she leaves the lift which suggests who she is protecting," James says. Plus, B left in a car with her sister and not her husband, and jetted of to childhood friend Kelly Rowland's wedding in Costa Rica just days afterwards.

Hmmm... is this the beginning of the end for Bonnie and Clyde?
