Book: Amanda Coetzee - Bad Blood

This is the sort of book that can be devoured in a single sitting – the writing is simple, the plot engaging and the pace quick enough to get the adrenaline flowing.

In her debut novel Amanda Coetzee introduces an interesting character, Harry O’Connor. Abandoned by his mother as a child, he’s taken in and raised by a group of travelling gypsies.

Despite the love he received in this close-knit community he always feels something is missing and spends years wondering what happened to his parents.

Eventually the pain of not knowing becomes too much and he flees his gypsy clan, making a name for himself as a no-nonsense undercover cop.

After years of burying his childhood he is forced to confront his past when he’s called in to find a child gone missing from his former clan.

Will Harry be able to face the truth of where he comes from before it’s too late for the gypsy boy?

I thoroughly enjoyed Coetzee’s first novel and look forward to reading more of her writing in years to come.
