This offering from the bush cook extraordinaire is up against titles from New Zealand, the US and Britain in the best English cookbook/TV tie-in category. 

It’s based on season four of his popular TV show which saw him travelling around the country to cook with some of SA’s most celebrated chefs.

From All Seafood-Carpetbaggers and Prawn Jumpers to Prickly Pear and Bubbly Sorbet, the book outlines all he learnt on his culinary odyssey.

And in case you were wondering putting a world-class cookbook together isn’t nearly as easy as Justin makes it look. To meet his publishers’ deadline he had to work 20-hour days, testing all the recipes and making sure they were properly cooked.

“I wouldn’t like to go through this again in my life – it was too much,” he says. “I’ve sworn blindly to everyone involved we would never do it again.”

If he wins a Gourmand Award perhaps he’ll change his mind.
