What I found most fascinating was her insight into wolves and the dynamics that play out within a pack.

Luke Warren leaves his wife and two children, Edward and Cara, to live in the wild to study wolf behaviour. The repercussions of this are bad enough but when he’s seriously injured in a car crash years later the family secrets are revealed in a long and painful bedside vigil.

Edward, who left home without saying why, has to reveal insights into his father’s life his sister would prefer not to believe.

And in all of this their mother, Georgie, has to try to show equal love and support for both her children. Cara herself carries a secret that leaves her guilt-ridden and unable to cope with her emotions as her father lies in hospital on life-support.

A wonderful read that kept me going late into the night.
