Sally Thompson felt something odd in her mouth and was stunned to see a little diamond fall out of the egg.

A bride-to-be made a shocking discovery when she sat down at the breakfast table and bit into her boiled egg.

“I’m trying to lose a bit of weight just before the wedding and I cooked a batch of eggs all at once to eat over a few days,” explains the future Mrs. “I took one, peeled it and bit into it when I feel something like gristle in my mouth.

“It fell on to the plate and I couldn’t understand where it had come from - I thought it had come from me.

“There was this little bit of jewellery on the plate and I couldn’t understand where it had come from. The only place could have been from the egg.”

Sally, from Carlisle, Cumbria, is set to wed the love of her life Steven Warwick in May this year.

Experts reckon the diamond was swallowed by the chicken.

Collette Francis, a former farm worker, explains what she thinks took place: “In this case it could be, chicken swallows diamond, diamond gets stuck at intestine exit, and egg picks up diamond on ways out.”

Meanwhile, Sally has taken the diamond to be valued and has made a rather unfortunate discovery.

The mini sparkler is in fact not a diamond, but rather a Cubic Zirconia – a synthetic gem often found in jewellery.

Either way, Sally believes the little sparkly stone could not have come at a better time.

“I believe in superstitions – like find a feather, pick it up – and I think there must be something about the timing of this coming,” she says.

“I don’t know what it will be a sign of but it is very surreal.”
