Camembert chicken burger

Turn the humble cheeseburger into a gourmet dish.

Serves 6 Cooking: 10 min Preparation: 15 min

  • 500 g chicken mince
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • handful coriander, chopped
  • 15 ml (1 T) cumin seeds
  • 5 ml (1 t) ground coriander
  • 1 egg
  • salt and pepper
  • 45 ml (3 T) olive oil
  • 6 rolls
  • 100 g lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomatoes, sliced
  • 125 g camembert cheese
  • peach chutney to serve

Preheat oven to 180 °C.

1 Combine the mince, onion, garlic, coriander, spices and egg in a medium bowl. Season well with salt and pepper.

2 Divide in 6 equal portions and roll into balls. Heat the oil well in a pan and cook the patties, flattening them to about 1 cm thick. Fry slowly until both sides are golden brown.

3 Place in the hot oven to cook for another 5 minutes.

4 Divide the lettuce and tomatoes between rolls. Place the cooked meat on top, followed by slices of camembert. Serve with peach chutney.
