In the latest issue of YOU, Chad and his dad, Bert, give their first exclusive interview since the Olympic Games in Rio. Chad talks about the Games, which he says was the worst sports meeting of his life, and the cancer battle of both his parents.

Now he’s decided to find a new coach.

“Graham Hill has done a great job as my coach for 14 years‚” Chad said in a recent statement.

According to Chad, in the past 14 years he and Graham achieved a lot in meetings such as the recent Olympic Games, where he won two silver medals.

“However‚ having considered everything‚ I have decided to end our agreement and will now start looking to find a new structure for 2017,” the swimmer said.

“For the rest of the 2016 season I will work by myself. Every athlete has to take responsibility for his or her own career and I feel ready to try a different approach.”

YOU found Bert, Chad’s dad, beside the swimming pool watching Chad train.

“It happens with many relationships,” Bert says. “You break up with your girlfriend or end a friendship. Sometimes renewal must come.

“We’re grateful for Graham’s support and how he formed Chad; we wish him all the best for the future.”
