Chilli bites

It'll take you less than 30 minutes to dish up this scrumptious little snack.

Makes: 20 Preparation: 10 min Cooking: 15 min

  • 250 ml (1 c) self-raising flour
  • 250 ml (1 c) chickpea flour
  • 10 ml (2 t) baking powder
  • 10 ml (2 t) turmeric
  • 10 ml (2 t) curry masala
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 baby marrow, grated
  • 1 egg
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 250 ml (1 c) water
  • oil for deep frying

1. In a large bowl add the flour, chickpea flour, baking powder, spices, onion and baby marrow.

2. Add the egg and season to taste. Pour in the water and stir until well combined.

3. Heat oil in a pot then gently drop in spoonfuls of the batter mixture. Cook for 3 minutes or until cooked through.
