Chocolate chip oat cookies

These mix-and-bake cookies couldn’t be easier to make. They’re soft and chewy, and loved by kids and adults alike.

Makes 20 Preparation: 10 min Baking: 8 min

  • 85 g butter, softened
  • 160 ml (? c) castor sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 160 ml (? c) flour
  • 2ml (½ t) baking powder
  • 2 ml (½ t) vanilla essence
  • 5 ml (1 t) ground cinnamon
  • 200 ml rolled oats
  • 50 g pecan nuts, chopped
  • 50 g chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Grease 2 baking trays.

1 Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

2 Put spoonfuls of the mixture on the prepared baking trays, leaving enough space in between each for spreading. Press down lightly.

3 Bake for 8 minutes or until golden underneath. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking trays. Transfer to an airtight container to store.
