Chris Colfer found wrapping on Glee “so emotional”.

The 24-year-old has played Kurt Hummel on the hit Fox show since 2009. After six series, the cast filmed their final scenes on Saturday, and Chris has opened up about how they were all feeling when they heard “cut!” for the final time.

“Oh, my God. Well, we just wrapped it last night and tears were flowing like blood in a red wedding," he confessed to ET Online at an Oscars after-party on Sunday night. "I wasn’t even expecting it to be so emotional, but it was pretty emotional.”

Glee was Chris’ first foray into television and over the years he has learned a lot. But despite building up a wealth of experience, he still can’t get his head around the fact he will never be returning to the William McKinley High School set.

"You know, it was the first time I had ever wrapped a show. So hearing the series wrap on my name was really interesting,” he added. Chris posted a photograph on his Instagram page as soon as shooting finished on Saturday. The image featured the school’s empty auditorium which had featured heavily in the show for the cast’s popular performances of hit songs. “And that's a wrap! #Glee #6Seasons #BestCastandCrew #Family(sic)” he wrote.

Chris you wasn’t the only cast mate who took to social media after filming their final scenes. Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry, also shared images from the set and what she was doing with her time now the show is over. “Stay in bed and rest after wrapping Glee? No thanks.. I'd rather climb a mountain! #Happy #LivingtheFitLife (sic)” she wrote on Sunday.
