Christina Aguilera is returning to TV on The Voice US.

The pop star and music producer Pharrell Williams will serve as coaches for the show’s upcoming season eight, appearing alongside Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, both of whom have been a part of the reality singing competition since the beginning. Christina was one of the original coaches but took a hiatus for seasons four, six and seven, with Shakira and Gwen Stefani briefly stepping in her place. Pharrell became a part of the show during season seven with Gwen. Usher and Cee Lo Green have also served as coaches on the programme, with the latter revealing he has no plans to come back.

'We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can't wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell.'

Carson Daly, the show’s host, announced the news of Christina’s return Tuesday.

Meanwhile, NBC executive Paul Telegdy said the network was “excited” to have her back.

"We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can't wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition," he stated. “These four talented artists are at the top of their game as musicians and as coaches. The mentoring is sure to be intense and the stakes will be high."

The news comes just months after Christina welcomed her second child, daughter Summer Rain Rutler, with fiancé Matt Rutler.

She was previously married to music marketing executive Jordan Bratman. They share a six-year-old son, Max.
