Cinnamon sugar doughnuts

A cinnamon-lover’s dream, these doughnuts are light and fluffy. If you’re a chocoholic, dip them in chocolate instead for a melt-in-your-mouth treat.

Makes 25 Cooking: 15 min Preparation: 10 min

  • 1 egg
  • 80 ml (? c) caster sugar
  • 125 ml (½ c) milk
  • 500 ml (2 c) flour, sifted
  • 2 ml (½ t) baking powder
  • oil for deep-frying
  • cinnamon sugar to coat

1 Beat the egg and caster sugar until pale. Pour in the milk, whisking until incorporated.

2 Gradually add the flour and baking powder.

3 Heat oil over medium heat until hot. Add spoonfuls of the batter to the hot oil in batches and cook for 3 minutes or until golden.

4 Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. While the doughnuts are still hot, roll them in cinnamon sugar to coat.
