Britain's Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas has been left shocked after discovering her stepfather Christopher Shaw passed away on Friday

The stepfather of Britain's Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas has been found dead.

The blonde beauty has been left shocked after learning of the death of her stepdad Christopher Shaw - who was married to her mother Lady Mary Gaye Curzon during the 90s - on Friday.

The ex-banker (76) - who was battling kidney disease and was given 18 months to live two years ago - was discovered by his housekeeper at his rented home in Salisbury, Wiltshire, last week.

Police were called to the house and a post-mortem is to be carried out, but officers insist there are no suspicious circumstances.

Christopher - who was once known for his millionaire lifestyle - was reportedly struggling with financial problems, but appeared to be in good spirits in the days leading up to his death as he had just returned from a holiday in Cuba.

He began dating Cressida's mother Mary Gaye in 1994 and the pair were together for six years, four years as a married couple, before they divorced in 2000.

A friend is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "Cressida was five when they got together and 11 when it all went wrong so Christopher would have been a strong presence in her childhood life."

Meanwhile, the coroner is also awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
