Dame Helen Mirren has been nominated for a prestigious Olivier Award.

The 67-year-old actress is in the running for Best Actress at next month's annual British theatre awards for her role as the queen in the popular play The Audience.

The talented actress, who won Best Actress at the Oscars and a BAFTA for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in the film The Queen in 2007, faces stiff competition from rivals Hattie Morahan for her role in A Doll's House, singer-turned-actress Billie Piper for The Effect and Kristin Scott Thomas for Old Times.

Helen has played three different queens during her career and is the only actress to ever portray both Queen Elizabeths on screen.
