The reason no one has told David Bowie's ex-wife Angie that he has passed away is somewhat bizarre.

David Bowie's ex-wife Angie Bowie doesn't yet know that her husband has passed away.

The former model has been in the house for the Channel 5 reality show since Tuesday 5 January. According to the show rules, contestants are not allowed to have contact with the outside world. But Channel 5 bosses have confirmed Angie will be told the sad news as soon as possible.

“Following the very sad news of David Bowie's death this morning, we can confirm that Angie Bowie will be informed off camera today at the earliest opportunity," a spokesperson for the show said. "We will update further once this has taken place."

The ex-spouses, who have son Duncan together, were not on good terms. Angie admitted that she and David have not spoken in 40 years.

"He hates me. I go to great lengths to avoid him."

While David wrote the songs The Prettiest Star, Golden Years and Cracked Actor about her, he later said that Angie "has as much insight into the human condition as a walnut and a self-interest that would make Narcissus green with envy."

Speculation is rife that the former American cover girl will leave the show upon hearing the news.
