Take a look at these adorable dinosaur cupcakes! They taste great too!

Our Days of the Dinosaur’s exhibition is well under away and will be at the Sandton Convention centre until the 20th of July. We’ve brought them for you to see, but a bakery in Craighall has dinosaurs you can eat!

We spoke to the Pastry Chef Jean-Marie Bailey from Crumble Cake shop and Kitchen, about the edible dinosaurs and the business of cakes.

She tells us that her inspiration comes from the heart and from their customers, people in general and her kids. The bakery has been in existence for 33 years but the current owners took over about a year and a half ago. We absolutely love their dinosaur cupcakes! Take a look for yourself!

Jean Marie tells us that the most extravagant cake they ever made was for a birthday party for a little boy and girl. They combined the character Merida from the Pixar movie Brave, and the characters from the movie How to Train your Dragon. The cake took two days to make and was 25cm high.

“It was quite a challenge, I enjoyed it very much.”
