After their mutual best friends die, Holly (Heigl) and Messer (Duhamel) are literally left holding the baby.

Named as their goddaughter’s guardians uptight Holly and lazily handsome Messer must look past their hatred for each other as they decide to honour their friends’ wishes and raise one-year-old Sophie together.

Heigl and Duhamel have great chemistry and make a charming couple but it’s not enough to make up for the iffy plot and bad writing.

Even though the angle is fresh the movie sticks to the romantic comedy handbook – there’s even a mad dash to the airport.

While there are genuinely funny moments, especially those that involve the couple’s peculiar neighbours, the movie relies too much on baby-poop jokes and odd-couple scenarios.

Despite these flaws you root for Holly and Messer and fans of the romantic comedy genre will enjoy it.

Bonus: deleted scenes.
