Crime thriller

Two bosom buddies, former soldier Chon (Taylor Kitsch) and philanthropist Ben (Aaron Johnson), start growing dagga and before long are making a good profit with their produce. They’re so close they don’t even mind sharing a sexual relationship with a rich man’s daughter O (Blake Lively).

Their idyllic Californian existence is at risk when a druglord, Elena (Salma Hayek), tries to take over their business and refuses to take no for an answer. They try to trick her but she has O kidnapped in an attempt to force them to accept her offer. Chon and Ben band together to rescue O by targeting Elena’s distribution routes, sowing mistrust in her shaky inner circle and finally kidnapping her daughter.

The violence is terrifying and Elena’s scary sidekick, Lado (Benicio Del Toro), will chill your soul. The style reminds of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill and director Oliver Stone keeps you guessing with plenty of twists, a gripping storyline and believable, complex and cruel characters.
