A 91-year-old woman and her 102-year-old fiancé will become two of the world’s oldest newly-weds when they marry in June.

George Kirby and Doreen Luckie, from Eastbourne, East Sussex, are finally tying the knot after 27 years together following great pressure from their elderly children to get serious.

“I didn’t get down on one knee, because I don’t think I would have been able to get back up,” George said.

Doreen was surprised to learn she and her future husband could be potential record-breakers.

"I didn't think that was possible, because you hear so many people living into their hundreds now, and lots of people in their nineties, I thought 'well, we can’t be the only ones.'"

The couple met in 1988 through an organization that helps seniors find friends.
