Emma Stone is baffled by social media.

Emma Stone is baffled by social media. The 26-year-old Amazing Spider-Man actress has notoriously stayed away from Twitter and Instagram throughout her career. And whilst other celebrities use them as promotional platforms, Emma can’t relate to what she feels is a “need to be liked” via online interaction. "It's that need to be liked, that need to be seen, that need to be validated, in a way, through no one that you know," she said during an interview for Hollywood Sessions with The Los Angeles Times and EPIX.

'It seems like everyone's cultivating their lives on Instagram or on different forms of social media'

The beauty put forth her thoughts about social media being a way for people to “cultivate” their lives. But she has no interest in choosing her best photographic angles and uploading them on a regular basis.

"And so people ask the question about fame, or what it feels like, and it seems like everybody knows what that feels like. It seems like everyone's cultivating their lives on Instagram or on different forms of social media, and what pictures looks best of their day," she elaborated.

"It's this very modern 'keeping up with the Joneses.' It's almost impossible to find someone that's not, in some way, on the Internet."

Catching herself in a social commentary monologue, Emma laughed. She made it clear this is a topic she could talk about for hours.

"Every time I talk about social media, I forget where I'm going. I go into a rabbit hole," said the star.

Emma was most recently seen portraying a quirky clairvoyant in romantic comedy Magic in the Moonlight alongside Colin Firth. She’s slated to appear alongside Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Bill Murray in an upcoming Cameron Crowe film due out in May, which has just been slammed in an email leaked in the Sony hacks.

Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal reportedly wrote an email saying “it’s a wrap” for the film, suggesting it’s set to be a flop, according to website Gawker.
