It’s safe to say Johannesburg customs officials had a rather interesting morning when they opened this container today! The last of the animals for our exciting The Ice Age Exhibition arrived in Gauteng and set-up for the coolest show in town can now begin.

Many of the majestic beasts arrived earlier this month after a month-long journey from Russia. And today the final container arrived from Barcelona, carrying some of the most exciting animals to be exhibited at the show (see if you can spot the mammoth and the sabre-tooth cat!).

The technical team behind the world-renowned exhibition will start to set up the massive show next week so it can be ready for its 20 June opening day. In addition to getting the animals set up in their “natural Ice Age habitat” they’ll be preparing the ice slide and snow storm area.

“We’re urging people to book now because tickets are flying fast,” event organiser Edmund Beukes says. “Last year with our Days of the Dinosaur exhibition we had many people who left it quite late and couldn’t get tickets because we sold out two weeks before the event ended.”

It’s especially good to book early if you’re traveling from afar to avoid disappointment at the door (there are specific timeslots to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors).
