Find a fab new lippie to love

This month a host of hot new lippies crossed my desk and I thought I’d share a little about those my lips loved the most.

This month a host of hot new lippies crossed my desk and I thought I’d share a little about those my lips loved the most.

First up, The Body Shop is replacing its Colour Glide line with a new range of “100 per cent vegetarian” lippies called Colour Crush. Each of the 24 new shades (price TBA) makes use of nourishing cherry seed oil and Community Fair Trade marula oil.

I was given a sheer bubble gum pink shade called Rush of Pink. It’s a nice shade when you don’t want to draw too much attention to your lips but want a subtle hint of colour to ensure you don’t look washed out.

Another fab new lip item on the shelves? L’Oreal Colour Caresse Shine Stain (price TBA).

Available in an array of colours, these go on like a liquid lipstick and then wear off to leave a long-lasting stain on your lips. They remind me a lot of YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres glossy stains, but for a fraction of the price.

If your lips are already quite pigmented you’ll find the paler shades disappointing as the colour they leave behind isn’t noticeable. The darker coral and red colours, however, are lovely as they leave a visible tint in their wake that lasts for ages before wearing off.

More of a Revlon fan? The new summer collaboration with celeb make-up artist Gucci Westman is called Pacific Coast and includes four limited-edition ColorBurst Lip Butter lipsticks in Juicy Papaya, Wild Watermelon, Pink Lemonade and Sorbet (R125 each).

Each shade looks fabulously vibrant in the tube but goes on sheer and dewy, and I’ve totally got my eye on Sorbet, the bright fuchsia shade. Fuchsia has always been one of my “go-to” hues because, as it’s blue-based, it creates the illusion of whiter-looking teeth.

Last but not least, in October, Shiseido is adding five new shades to its Perfect Rouge lipstick collection: Bloom, Harmony, Tulip, Titian and Day Lily (R305 each). To check them out, pop on over to Shiseido’s site. They’re all infused with lip-plumping hyaluronic acid and red illuminating pearl to ensure the colours reflect and pop on your lips.

I was given Tulip, a vibrant pink, and I’m in love with its fabulous pigmentation and super creamy texture. It literally glides across your lips!

Another reason I love Shiseido is that it’s one of the few brands that get “nude” shades just right; no dirty browns or washed out beigey-pinks, just lots of gorgeous “your-lips-but-better” shades to choose from.
