Former Miss SA Liesl Laurie in 'horrific' car crash

Liesl's car was hit from behind by another vehicle, propelling her underneath the truck in front of her.

Miss South Africa 2015 Liesl Laurie is lucky to be alive after she was involved in a major car crash, according to reports.

According to Sunday World, the 25-year-old was travelling on the N1 highway just before the New Road offramp in Midrand two weeks ago, when another car smashed into the back of hers. The force propelled her underneath the truck in front of her.

The outlet says witnesses were shocked when Liesl managed to crawl out of the rear passenger window of the Mercedez Benz A Class, after thinking there was no way the driver would survive the crash. "She climbed through the back and managed to come out shaking uncontrollably," an eyewitness said.

The reigning Miss World Africa was admitted to hospital after the horrific incident, but she is now recovering at home.

"She sustained minor injuries on her arms and legs," her publicist, Jarred Doyle said. "She was lucky her face was not affected because that's part of her business." "She has indicated that she will take a short break from driving because she needs time to forget about the accident," he said.
