As Florian Blöchliger and his wife Shireen frantically searched Tokai forest for their missing daughter, his phone rang. It was his daughter – or at least, someone using her phone.

“On the call she was quiet, but in the background you could hear children crying and screaming – I knew it wasn’t her cry, but wondered where she could be,” the devastated father said.

The 16-year-old girl went missing after going for a run in the southern suburbs forest in Cape Town with her mother and sister yesterday afternoon. She ran on ahead, promising to meet them in a few minutes.

When she didn’t return and was nowhere to be found, the community rallied a search party to comb the forest.

Franziska’s body was found under the fynbos soon after. It’s believed she was strangled.

Now Swiss-born Florian is offering a reward for any information that might lead to the arrest of his daughter's killer.

IOL reports the family has hired a private investigator to determine how much money they should offer should the information lead to a successful arrest and conviction.

“We want him to rot in jail. We appeal to the public to help find this person. He does not deserve to be in society.

"If he could do what he did to our daughter, imagine what he can do to someone else’s mother, sister and daughter.”
