Grade 8-12 learners can now say goodbye to the struggles of understanding tough subjects like maths and science -- thanks to Tendopro!

The free-to-use e-learning and revision tool that offers an interactive and fun-based approach towards revision learning online, was launched at Protea Glen Secondary in Johannesburg on 10 August.

Jerome Maggerman, COO for Tendopro, says the e-revision tool was first introduced in April as a soft launch and last week marked its official launch. The website is co-founded by social entrepreneur Jerome and social work student Ellen Betridge.

“Today marks an important day for Tendopro, the role of providing quality education to the next generation of South Africans, undoubtedly will see our beautiful country soar to the heights that we’ve all dreamed and aspired to,” Jerome addressed learners at Protea Glen Secondary School in Soweto.

“Tendopro was designed and conceptualised to support and build on to the foundation that is laid out in the classroom every day. Essentially, as Tendopro, we firmly believe that learning does not stop when the bell rings. The foundation laid by our teachers in the classroom every day is an important one.

For team Tendopro, we recognise the need to support learners when the leave school because the sad reality is that they don’t have access to teachers when they leave school. Tendopro becomes an extension of the classroom and the teacher while the learners are at home.”

Even the scorching sun couldn’t keep students away and cheered along as various guest speakers, including Nadav Ossendryver, creator of Latest Sightings – a wildlife tracking website; Gauteng Department of Education’s Peter Mofokeng, members from sponsor companies, Chevrolet and Nedbank and Headmistress at Jordao College, Cidalia Olivier.

Amongst the speakers also included principal at Protea Glen Secondary, Mr Malinga, who said he was honoured to be part of the launch.

Tendopro is filling the gap for many learners, he said, allowing them access to the best of local and international multimedia and interactive educational content.

“Learners unfortunately, when they leave the school are on their own and don’t have access to their teachers, this is where Tendopro becomes handy, ensuring that their revision experience is relevant to each grade ,” he said.

The Tendopro team are working with a number of schools, including the likes of Queens Park, Klein Nederburg in Western Cape and Hyde Park High and Orlando West Secondary in Gauteng.

“Post the launch we are already spreading the net wider to more schools in more provinces. This coming week we are activating at Nedbank schools,” adds Jerome.

The end of the launch saw a handover to the best performing learners from grade 8-12, where each learner received a tablet.
