At one stage, Fat Vincent weighed a whopping 17 kg.

When his owner died, a vet in Houston, Texas, took in portly dachshund Vincent.

Eight months later the small hound, at one stage weighing a whopping 17 kg, had made a remarkable turnaround.

Originally known as Fat Vincent (7), the dog landed at Harris County animal shelter after his owner died. He was immediately diagnosed with high cholesterol – and various other medical conditions related to his well-padded figure were also picked up.

After eight months of being on stringent diet, getting regular walks and taking in lots of water, Fat Vincent had shed more than nine kilograms. It’s speculated that the dog must have eaten only junk food and takeaway meals at his previous owner’s to have put on so much weight.
