Fashion designer Gert Johan Coetzee designs fashion for a cause

WE LOVE when our celebs use their talents for a good cause – and Gert-Johan Coetzee’s pink collection is no exception. The fashion designer partnered with The Pink Drive, an organisation focusing on breast health education, to raise awareness about breast cancer.

He launched his fuchsia designs at Jameson SA Fashion Week (see our gallery for more fashion highlights from the event).  “I have used neon-pink as a spot colour in my designs before but have always wanted to make an all-pink collection,” Coetzee says.

Helping to raise awareness was a star-studded cast that included actress Jay Anstey, radio personality Jen Su, model Kerry McGregor and his muse, Bonang Mathebe.

Gert was approached by photographer Nicole Phillips to do a time-slice fashion shoot. It involved 20 cameras, set up in a semicircle and carefully calibrated to take a picture at exactly the same time, which means you capture the subject from all sides. The process took about two weeks.
