Reading to your kids is always a good idea and if your not doing so already, start today.

Reading to your kids is always a good idea and if your not doing so already, start today.

On 5 March, we celebrated World Read Aloud Day and the South African reading-for-enjoyment campaign Nal’ibali (isiXhosa for “here’s the story”) attempted to reach more than last year’s record of 13 000 children through its 2014 World Read Aloud Day drive. The organisation aims to spark children’s potential through storytelling and reading.

According to organisers, reading aloud is one of the most important activities for building a child’s language skills and knowledge, and motivating them to learn as they read.

We have some great ideas for what to read to your children. Click here for some reading suggestions.
