Most moms agree the best gift by far is the love of our children and the support of our partners. That being said, some good-quality chocolate and a spa day aren’t bad gifts either, hey moms?

If gifts are important to you, your partner and kids might need a little hint about exactly what you’re looking for. Here are five tips for letting them know what you happily could do with:

1.      Play show and tell

Sometimes hints work better when they’re obvious. Show your partner the item you want by pointing it out in a store or by leaving the catalogue out and open on the appropriate page. He might just be relieved he doesn’t have to come up with a fantastic gift idea all on his own, and you get what you want.

2.      Use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter

The trick is to post a suggestion or two this week, play with your wording and give loved ones some options.

3.      Talk about yourself

It will make it easier for your partner and kids if you tell them what your specific interests are and what you really love. Tell them about the new author whose work you’re reading or about the fragrance you really like. They’re bound to get the hint.

4.      Talk about a present someone else got

Tell your family how much you really like a gift someone else got recently or something similar. Hopefully they’ll get the hint and splurge on you.

5.      Make a wish list

Okay, so it’s a little obvious, but you can create a wish list on a website such as kalahari.com.

Of course no mom needs reminding that special days really aren't about the gifts, but about the sentiment. So tell your partner and kids that although getting spoilt is nice and you enjoy it, spending time together and knowing they appreciate you are the ultimate treat!
